[Spoilers] Review of ‘It’s Happened One Summer’ by Tessa Bailey

Genre: Adult Romance

Rating: ★★.5

Spiciness: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Ok, unfortunately, I must start my first review with a book I didn’t absolutely love. I was looking for a quick read in between several more intense series and it took me so long to start getting into the book. This was supposed to be my light read and it took me about 2 weeks to actually read it. I was roughly 130 pages in with what I felt was little-to-no actual content. The love trope was a quick-to-fall-in-love situation, which personally, I am not a huge fan of. It also had an opposites attract trope. The book was definitely spicy and probably half the pages were filled with some words that would not be tactful to repeat! I enjoyed the concept of a fisherman and an LA celebrity and their romance, but to me, it was predictable (and not in a way that I was wanting). However, it did get some stars because there is some storyline and I do like the characters of Brendan and Piper! I also liked that in the end, she decided to end up staying in Westport and chose him and the place over her previous life in LA. There is some exploration of Piper’s growth as a person, however, I feel like this took a backburner to her relationship. I just wished that it had a little more depth and it verged on being too mushy for me. Overall, the book was a 2.5/5 to me and the spiciness was a 4/5!
